Finance Council

Description: To provide strategic financial direction to the parish.  The Council reviews the quarterly operating results and financial resources of the parish, reviews and approves its annual budget, sets guidelines for the expenditures of discretionary funds and periodically reviews the internal controls of the parish.  The Council is actively involved in financial planning for the parish building initiatives.

Requirements: The Council requires a financial background.

Time Commitment: Attend monthly meetings, less frequent during summers, for 1-2 hours; generally held at 6 PM on the second or third Tuesday of each month.  Occasionally participate in a review of a particular financial operation of aspect of the parish.

Helpful Attributes: Members must be practicing Catholics in good standing; have a financial background, good planning skills, good communication skills and a willingness to actively participate in the group.

Training Required: None, but diocese offers workshops

Parish Pastoral Council

Description: In conjunction with the Pastor, to provide direction to the parish, setting goals and objectives together with the parish's other ministries.  Additionally, to educate and promote stewardship of time, talent and treasure.  To create an environment to encourage parishioners to live out their commitment to be Christ centered.

Requirements: The Council is a thinking, planning and organizing group to assist in decision making, direction and coordination of parish activities.

Time Commitment: Attend monthly meetings, less frequent during summers, for about 1 ½ hours. Generally held at 4 PM on the second Monday of each month.

Helpful Attributes: Members must be practicing Catholics in good standing.  Good at planning, exhibiting leadership qualities, good communication skill and a team player.

Activities: Develop parish tri-fold calendar, parish handbook and other plans. Most work extensively with their ministries on an ongoing basis. Representation includes: Pastor, Religious, Chairpersons of Pastoral/Stewardship, Finance, Building Councils, Leaders of Youth, Religious education, St Vincent de Paul Society, Knights of Columbus, Hospitality, Outreach and Faith Formation, plus members at large

Training Required: None, but diocese offers workshops
